My Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy of education is based on my personal educational experience.  Having the opportunity to uncover my strengths and weakness, as well as the chance to develop my nursing practice, was essential.  Instilling the importance of critical thinking and communication was another crucial factor in the success of my learning experience.

My idea of being an active educator derives from my previous exposure to educators’ strengths and weakness. Taking their methods of teaching and encompassing them to inspire others inspires me. One approach is providing a strong foundation to encourage students to research and further explore to build on the foundation provided.  Being effective educator requires one to incorporate various approaches to learning by providing resources, learning materials, offering time hands-on learning as well as student collaboration. As the time evolves and students’ methods of learning changes, it is essential to adapt and create innovative methods of learning.  As a master’s prepared nurse, mentoring both students and peers will allow me to give back to the nursing profession.
